If you prefer the bike to the hiking boots, you can follow the well-marked bike trails across the hills of the Hunsrueck or down to the beautiful valleys of the rivers Rhine or Moselle.
The Schinderhannes cycle path, for example, takes you along the old railway route from Emmelshausen to Simmern (38km/24miles). Instead of steep hills plenty of superb views are awaiting you!
Or you can cycle through the Niederbach valley to Oberwesel and through the picturesque valley of the river Rhine to the town of Boppard. Alternatively you can take the boat from Oberwesel to enjoy the Rhine valley, which is UNESCO world heritage. From Boppard you can catch the Hunsrueck railway (the steepest railway track north of the Alps) back to Emmelshausen or you can hop on the ‘bike and hiking bus’.
Real Mountain-bikers will find plenty of exciting and challenging routes across the Hunsrueck.
